Book Your New Year's Resolution Therapy Appointment NOW

book a therapy appointment

You already know that you want to start therapy. You’ve decided to put it off a bit and count it as one of your New Year’s resolutions. Unlike becoming a beekeeper, this is one you will definitely follow through on!

The new year comes around and you’re recovering from the holidays. You manage to make that call at the end of January. Your potential new therapist has a waitlist of 6-8 weeks. Are you ready to schedule? Hmm, that motivation is decreasing...

There is no time like the present when it comes to booking a therapy intake. If your emotions become less intense, you’ll question whether you really needed therapy in the first place, cancel your intake, and then regret it when your situation changes again.

Now would be a great time to already get on someone’s schedule for the first week of January or, better yet, this month! You might really benefit from support during the holiday season.

P.S. I’m going to add in my two cents on therapy intakes in general. From the clinical psychology perspective, the intake is a diagnostic evaluation that also provides treatment recommendations. It is not the first day of therapy. It’s actually possible that the therapist could suggest that you (or your child) do not need therapy yet, or suggest another approach.  You might also really benefit just from that first appointment (usually, if nothing else, it provides clarity or boosts hope), and then you can decide if you want to move forward with therapy.

If you don't know how to find a therapist, read this. If you're interested in working with me (I'm flattered!), go here.
